IFA 2010 Report - The Alpha family of interchangeable lens cameras from Sony grows with the compact, ultra-responsive new Sony A55. Sony’s first-ever digital camera to employ Translucent Mirror Technology showcases an innovative optical system that opens up dramatic new shooting possibilities. In contrast with conventional DSLR cameras, Translucent Mirror Technology uses a fixed, translucent mirror that ‘splits’ the optical pathway between the main image sensor and a separate phase-detection autofocus sensor. The new Sony A55 Single Lens Translucent mirror camera is available from September 2010 and will be on display at the Photokina 2010 show in Germany.

Sony NEX camcorder

IFA 2010 Show - The new Sony NEX VG10 camcorder is the world's first consumer camcorder with interchangeable lenses and the first Handycam camcorder to feature an extra-large Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor. Sony's NEX-VG10 Interchangeable lens HD Handycam camcorder is equipped with the same Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor used in the "Sony NEX-5" and "NEX-3" digital cameras and compatible with the high grade "E-mount" series of smaller, lighter lenses optimized for video shooting with silent operation and AF. The Sony NEX camcorder is also compatible with a wealth of "A-mount" interchangeable lenses used by Sony's existing alpha DSLR camera line-up via a mount adapter (sold separately), including award winning Sony G Lenses and Carl Zeiss branded lenses.

Sony Alpha A700

The new Sony Alpha A700 was launched during a Sony press conference in Italy. Unfortunately, the surprise element was lost because one day earlier the Alpha introduction was disturbed by a leak caused by Sony. The Sony Alpha 700 is Sony’s second digital SLR camera that has to contribute to a continuously compiling series of SLR cameras, with which Sony manifests itself as renowned DSLR manufacturer. The Sony DSLR A700 is a digital SLR camera which is positioned in the middle segment, and with that, has to compete (heavily) with the new collection of Canon and Nikon D-SLR cameras, among others. During my stay in Italy, I had the chance to work with the Sony A700 for a short period.

IFA NEWS 2017 REPORT - The IFA International Consumer Electronics Show took place every two years, but since 2006 the IFA show became once again an annual event under Berlin’s famous Funkturm landmark. In the early days, back in 1924 the IFA began in Berlin as the “Great German Radio Exhibition”. In the meantime, the International Consumer Electronics Show has not only become the world's biggest trade show for consumer electronics but also presents the world's largest number of product premieres in consumer electronics and home appliances. At IFA 2009 more than 3 billion Euros worth of orders were generated. IFA 2010 could even surpass this number! The total number of exhibitors at last year’s IFA show was 1164 from 46 countries. The total number of trade visitors was 134194 from 105 countries, quite amazing numbers. The IFA 2010 show news will come to you live from the show floor, so stay tuned!
